On June 17, 2023, at 14:33, survey personnel from a national research institute conducting meteorological observations in the remote Bartang Valley of the eastern Pamir Mountains, Tajikistan, reported the initial anomaly. They documented a sudden and complete disappearance of ambient wind, river sounds, and bird calls during routine data collection, accompanied by headaches and mild dizziness. After approximately three minutes of this silent state, all environmental sounds abruptly returned.
Following this report, authorities dispatched a specialized investigation team to the site on July 3 of the same year, considering the possibility of a complex anomalous phenomenon.
