Case No. #1568
Portugal, Braga District: 'Chilling Song' Residential Anomaly Incident
Summary
In a secluded stone house in the Braga District of northern Portugal, anomalous low temperatures and faint singing have been repeatedly reported at night. This phenomenon occurs regardless of external temperatures or heating systems, with the entire house enveloped in extreme cold, causing significant discomfort to residents. Multiple eyewitness testimonies and official investigation reports suggest this is a peculiar event unexplainable by physical laws. No solution has been found, and the house frequently remains vacant.
Details
On September 12, 2018, an anomalous low-temperature phenomenon was first confirmed at a 150-year-old stone farmhouse located in Caldera Village, Braga District, Portugal. The new residents reported to authorities that at night, the indoor temperature dropped significantly below the outside temperature, and the heating system completely failed, leaving the house enveloped in extreme cold. This cold was described as emanating directly from the walls and floors, chilling residents to the bone.
This house is known for its frequent change of ownership over several generations. Local residents have long passed down a legend of a 'night singer,' a woman's voice heard from within the house at night. Past residents have also reported similar unexplained cold and faint singing, leading to multiple instances of the house being abandoned after short periods. Neighbors also testified to hearing faint female singing on several occasions on windless nights, distinct from the sound of the wind.
From November 2018 for approximately four months, authorities installed high-precision environmental sensors and acoustic recording devices in the house to conduct a detailed investigation. The investigation revealed that during specific nighttime hours, indoor temperatures recorded abnormal values, up to 15°C lower than the surroundings. Simultaneously, intermittent ultra-low frequency sound waves, below the human hearing range, were detected. Their waveforms surprisingly synchronized with patterns resembling subtle singing, though the recorded audio source itself could not clearly identify the singing voice.
Furthermore, an oddity emerged during the investigation: multiple instances of malfunction and data loss occurred with the installed sensors and recording devices. Some equipment even completely ceased functioning during the most pronounced periods of low-temperature phenomena. These technical issues exhibited irregular patterns, making them difficult to explain by conventional electromagnetic interference or equipment failure.
Physical scientists and acoustic experts from the authorities could not provide a rational explanation for the recorded phenomena, neither thermodynamically nor acoustically. The low-temperature phenomenon strongly suggests the presence of a localized cooling source, but its origin and mechanism remain entirely unidentified. The correlation between ultra-low frequency sound waves and the singing voice is also beyond current scientific explanation.
This incident suggests physical interference that transcends conventional paranormal phenomena. Authorities have closed the house and are currently conducting regular remote monitoring. Recurrences of the phenomenon are intermittently recorded, showing no change in its nature. We prioritize the elucidation of this unique complex phenomenon.
Currently, the house is known locally as the 'House of the Chilling Song,' and no one is willing to live there. Monitoring by authorities continues, but the conditions for the phenomenon's occurrence and any signs of cessation remain unknown. Plans are underway to attempt detailed analysis during future recurrences.
We are considering further information gathering and the implementation of more advanced physical investigation methods. The uniqueness of this incident suggests it exists in a realm beyond the reach of conventional investigative approaches. Continued recording is inevitable.
Timeline
- September 12, 2018Current owner experiences the first abnormal low temperatures and faint singing in the house.
- Late October 2018After multiple experiences, the phenomenon is reported to the Portuguese National Republican Guard (GNR).
- November 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019Authorities install environmental sensors and acoustic recording devices for detailed investigation.
- January 15, 2019, approximately 02:30Sensors record anomalous low-frequency sounds and a temperature drop of 12°C below ambient. Partial data loss occurs.
- Since 2020The house becomes vacant, but remote monitoring continues to report similar intermittent phenomena.
Witness Testimony
Former Resident A (September 2018)I was struck by a cold that made my whole body shiver at night. It was freezing inside the house, even though it was still warm outside. And then, I heard a woman's singing voice, like it was far away, yet right there. I was too scared to move.
Neighbor B (Summer 2019)It was a quiet night with no wind. I heard a very faint woman's singing voice coming from that empty house. The village has always said it's a ghost's voice. No one believes it, but it was definitely singing.
Investigator C (January 15, 2019)The temperature at the site recorded below freezing, making my breath visible. Despite the heating being on maximum, it had no effect. Strangely, my mobile device also froze at that time.
Kyu's Analysis
Anomalous physical and auditory phenomena occur simultaneously and intermittently. Equipment malfunctions and data loss are not explainable by simple environmental factors. Elucidation of this complex event is a top priority for authorities. Recording continues.
