Summary

In the early hours of September 14, 2019, multiple explorers reported a peculiar acoustic phenomenon in Radovica, an abandoned mining village in eastern Serbia. Barely discernible low-frequency sounds, akin to whispers or groans, along with a sharp drop in temperature, simultaneously emanated from within decaying residential structures. This phenomenon has been observed repeatedly, with several instances of specific items vanishing from the sound's point of origin. Authorities classify this as an inexplicable ghost phenomenon, currently under ongoing surveillance.

Details

Around 01:30 on September 14, 2019, 'Witness A,' a member of an urban exploration group visiting the abandoned Radovica village, detected an anomaly inside a dilapidated dormitory building. Extremely faint low-frequency sounds, resembling whispers or growls, began to emanate intermittently from beyond a wall. Concurrently, the room's temperature rapidly dropped by approximately 5 degrees Celsius, he reported. They initially attributed this to wind resonance or a simple natural phenomenon.

However, over the following weeks, similar phenomena were reported by multiple explorers. Among local residents, Radovica is known as the site of a tragic mining accident where many workers were trapped and died in the shafts. Legends persist that their unfulfilled spirits remain in the village. Authority records suggest that the rapid depopulation after the mine's closure and subsequent abandonment of the village may have amplified these types of legends.

In March 2020, authorities dispatched a specialized investigation team to the site. High-sensitivity microphones and thermo-sensors installed in a specific dormitory building recorded, multiple times between night and dawn, low-frequency sounds outside the human auditory range, along with abnormal temperature drops of up to 8 degrees Celsius lower than the surroundings. Electromagnetic wave detectors also picked up irregular noise. These data perfectly matched the timing and locations of past eyewitness testimonies.

Most baffling during the investigation was the disappearance of specific items during the phenomena. While the team was setting up recording equipment, an old ceramic plate left on the kitchen counter of the dormitory building suddenly vanished at the peak of the low-frequency sound and cold phenomena. This was not captured by surveillance cameras and was later found in fragments near the entrance of an abandoned mine shaft, approximately 50 meters from the dormitory. The fragments showed unusual abrasion marks inexplicable by normal damage.

The sound source in this case remains unidentified. The measured low-frequency sounds displayed unique waveforms that do not match any natural sound sources, and their origin consistently remained at a fixed point. However, no physical sound or vibration source exists at that location. These sounds are also reported to have a profound unsettling effect on human psychology, making prolonged stays difficult.

Following the incident, authorities issued strict warnings against unauthorized entry into the abandoned village for visitors from surrounding areas. However, the phenomena continue sporadically, with an increased frequency particularly during the colder winter months. The fact that the vanished item was found near the entrance of an abandoned mine shaft could suggest a connection to past mining accidents, yet conclusive evidence is lacking.

This 'faint whispers' phenomenon encompasses complex elements inexplicable by mere natural occurrences or hallucinations. The mechanism by which sound, temperature, and material movement/disappearance occur in conjunction remains unsolved. Authorities continue to maintain remote surveillance, attempting to record recurrences of the phenomenon and gather new evidence.

  1. September 14, 2019, 01:30Witness A experiences low-frequency sound and rapid temperature drop in dormitory.
  2. Late September 2019Multiple urban exploration groups report similar phenomena.
  3. March 10, 2020Authority investigation team arrives on-site, installs observation equipment.

  5. From April 2020 onwardsRemote surveillance initiated. Sporadic continuation of phenomena confirmed.

Witness Testimony

Witness AThat sound wasn't in my ears; it felt like it resonated directly in my skull. At the same time, the air froze instantly, as if someone had breathed cold air directly onto me.
Local Resident BThat village is no longer a place for people to live. Many lives are buried beneath the earth. Their voices, sometimes, carry on the wind. Especially on winter nights, it's terrible.
Investigator CThe observational data was extremely clear. However, there was absolutely no physical cause found that could generate such phenomena. 'Something' definitely exists at that location.

Kyu's Analysis

This is a multifaceted phenomenon. Sound, temperature, and material displacement, all interconnected. This is more than a mere residual haunting.
