Around 3:00 AM on April 12, 2021, at a logging camp deep within the Central Kalimantan Mountains, near a Tidung tribal settlement, multiple workers reported a rumbling, low groaning sound and strong vibrations emanating from the ground. The sound source appeared to move over a wide area, and many experienced the visible shaking of enormous trees in the surrounding tropical rainforest. Initial reports suggested the presence of an unknown, colossal creature.
Similar phenomena continued intermittently in the following days. An investigative team dispatched by the authorities discovered multiple instances of abnormally compacted undergrowth and unusual sap exudation around the logging site. Local Tidung elders have for centuries passed down legends of an entity called 'Muri An Tana' (Giant of the Earth).
