Summary

In the Fayoum Oasis, Egypt, sightings of phantoms appearing during intense sandstorms have been reported since March 14, 2018. These are described as silent processions of people and animals in ancient attire, consistently moving along a specific path. Multiple eyewitness accounts exist, yet no physical traces have been confirmed. Authority investigations recorded electromagnetic anomalies and data loss, but direct evidence of the phantoms remains elusive. This phenomenon suggests a complex interaction between specific weather conditions and the vestiges of ancient civilizations. The cause remains unexplained.

Details

On March 14, 2018, around 2:30 PM, amidst a major sandstorm that swept through the Fayoum Oasis, local resident A witnessed a procession of people and livestock, clad in ancient Egyptian attire, approximately 50 meters away. The procession moved slowly southwest along a dry ancient path within the oasis, vanishing into the sand in a few minutes. Resident A initially dismissed it as a hallucination and did not report it.

In April of the same year, during a similar sandstorm, tourist B witnessed nearly the identical phenomenon along the same path and reported the details to the police. Subsequently, several more similar reports followed. All witnesses provided consistent testimonies, stating that the procession was silent, followed a specific route, and that the phantoms were semi-transparent. Some witnesses claimed to have felt a strange static electricity and observed subtle swirling sand patterns on the ground after the sandstorm subsided.

Authorities initially deemed this phenomenon to be mass hallucination or an optical illusion caused by natural phenomena, thus not deploying a full-scale investigation. However, the situation took a new turn when archaeologists pointed out that the path might have been part of an ancient Egyptian caravan route. Vague descriptions of strange sights witnessed during sandstorms in this region were also found scattered in historical documents.

In March 2019, authorities assembled a specialized investigation team and installed a monitoring system, timed with the anticipated period of recurring sandstorms. High-resolution cameras, thermal sensors, electromagnetic wave detectors, and acoustic sensors were deployed. On March 18 of the same year, another large-scale sandstorm occurred. The monitoring system was operational, but video data from the period when the phantoms reportedly appeared showed severe noise and partial loss.

The electromagnetic wave detectors temporarily recorded anomalous high-frequency pulses and increased static electricity levels, but the acoustic sensors remained silent. A team member testified to witnessing the phantoms with their naked eye, but the video recording at that moment was obscured by noise. A discrepancy arose between digital records and direct visual perception. Authorities also found the high consistency among eyewitness testimonies unnatural.

To date, no direct physical evidence of the phantoms has been obtained. Authorities suggest that the unique environment of a sandstorm may induce unexplained physical phenomena, such as electromagnetic waves and static electricity, which in turn distort human perception, projecting ancient memories or images. This incident, as a peculiar physical phenomenon in a land rich with ancient civilization vestiges, remains under strict continued surveillance.

Witness Testimony

Eyewitness A (Local Resident)The storm was terrible that day, visibility was poor. But I saw it clearly. A large group of people, with animals, walking from the distance. They wore old clothes, like statues come to life. There was no sound at all. They just passed by silently.
Eyewitness B (Tourist)During my trip, I encountered an unusual sandstorm. That's when I saw figures in the distance. At first, I thought they were locals, but gradually their forms became clearer. They were an ancient procession, wearing mythological attire. They moved slowly, silently. My camera was just white noise.
Investigator C (Authority Team)Sensors were active, but the moment we visually perceived the phenomenon, critical data loss occurred in the video recording. There were electromagnetic anomalies, but no visual information was obtained. Whether it was intentional interference or the nature of the phenomenon itself, judgment is reserved.

Kyu's Analysis

A composite incident of natural phenomenon and perceptual anomaly. Is the record loss inherent to the phenomenon, or an act by some intelligence? Continued investigation is imperative.
