Valea Neagră, once a prosperous mining village, became completely abandoned after its mine closed in the 1990s. The anomalies in this village were first reported to authorities on October 17, 2019, by a group of students on a hiking trip. While camping in the abandoned village, they experienced an unusual cold front covering the entire village and the sudden failure of their mobile phones shortly after midnight. Immediately afterwards, they testified to the appearance of numerous irregular black spots on what appeared to be the village's main street.
These spots, while lacking definite form, were opaque masses that collectively suggested humanoid shapes, moving as if gliding across the ground. According to their testimonies, there were hundreds of them, moving in unison from the village center towards the surrounding forest. One witness claimed to have constantly heard “incomprehensible whispers” close to her ear during their movement, though her companions did not confirm hearing such sounds.
