At 23:42 on July 15, 2022, a geological survey team observed a peculiar phenomenon beneath the surface of Lake Turkana, eastern shore, northern Kenya, at a depth of approximately 30 meters. A massive, green bioluminescent shadow, estimated to be over 15 meters in length, slowly traversed the lake's surface from east to west. Simultaneously, the team's underwater acoustic sensors intermittently recorded deep resonant sounds emanating from the lakebed. Local El Molo and Turkana fishermen have long-standing traditions concerning a 'glowing great serpent' or 'master of the lake' inhabiting its waters.
