On the afternoon of July 14, 2023, the first anomalies were reported by multiple individuals hiking towards a popular tourist spot known as the 'Hidden Waterfall' in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. A group of experienced mountaineers, familiar with the route, testified that a point normally reached in minutes required dozens of minutes, and the destination visibly appeared to move further away. Concurrently, their spoken words echoed back with several seconds of delay, creating an unnatural acoustic effect.
Following these reports, the authorities commenced an investigation and reviewed historical records. Reports from a Soviet research expedition in the 1980s documented loss of orientation and instrument malfunctions in this very region.
