Summary

In July 2023, anomalous spatial perception distortions were reported in a specific gorge area within Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park in central Georgia. Visitors experienced familiar terrain suddenly feeling more distant, or a complete loss of directional sense. Simultaneously, localized auditory anomalies occurred, where sounds echoed with strange delays, or sometimes disappeared entirely. The Bureau initiated an investigation into this inexplicable phenomenon, considering past similar reports.

Details

On the afternoon of July 14, 2023, the first anomalies were reported by multiple individuals hiking towards a popular tourist spot known as the 'Hidden Waterfall' in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. A group of experienced mountaineers, familiar with the route, testified that a point normally reached in minutes required dozens of minutes, and the destination visibly appeared to move further away. Concurrently, their spoken words echoed back with several seconds of delay, creating an unnatural acoustic effect.

Following these reports, the authorities commenced an investigation and reviewed historical records. Reports from a Soviet research expedition in the 1980s documented loss of orientation and instrument malfunctions in this very region. Furthermore, local elders recount a legend of the 'Valley of Deception,' where those who entered on specific days never returned.

The Bureau's initial investigation team deployed with GPS devices, laser rangefinders, and acoustic analysis equipment to the affected area. However, GPS data displayed unstable positioning, and rangefinders frequently showed several meters of error for the same target. Irregular delays and noise infiltrated radio communications between team members, and complete disappearance of audio signals was observed in specific frequency bands. All equipment functioned normally after exiting the incident zone.

On July 21, 2023, a geological survey drone in the same gorge suddenly lost control and vanished from sight. It was later discovered several kilometers away, without any crash marks. The drone's flight log data recorded impossible high speeds and erratic movement patterns during the period of its disappearance.

Of further interest, fixed-point observation cameras installed within the gorge recorded no visual distortions in their footage during the anomalies. However, the audio data captured by these cameras showed phenomena such as human voices and ambient sounds suddenly cutting off, or playback speeds changing erratically. The fact that visual information remained normal while only auditory information was affected makes identifying the phenomenon exceedingly difficult.

The Bureau has designated the area for strict monitoring and continues intermittent investigations. This phenomenon, involving simultaneous geometric distortion of space, desynchronization of the time axis, and selective interference with physical measurement instruments, defies explanation within current scientific frameworks. The case remains unresolved.

Witness Testimony

Eyewitness A (Mountain Guide)I know the way to the 'Hidden Waterfall' intimately. But that day was different. The waterfall was right in front of us, yet no matter how long we walked, we couldn't reach it. It was as if the ground was stretching. When I spoke to my companions, my voice echoed back to me several seconds later. I felt fear.
Eyewitness B (Investigator)The laser rangefinder wouldn't stabilize. The distance to the same rock changed by five meters in a matter of minutes. The GPS constantly flickered, and I lost track of our own position. There was a strange 'silence' in our radio communications; for several seconds, the other person's voice would completely disappear. After returning, all equipment functioned normally.

Kyu's Analysis

Spatial perception, auditory time lag, and selective interference with recording media are inexplicable by existing physical laws. This is a highly intriguing case.
