Summary

In the early hours of May 14, 2015, in an undeveloped area of northern Mato Grosso State, Brazil, a patrolling forest ranger reported an anomalous cold zone and the literal dissolution of physical evidence from the ground. Despite the tropical climate consistently above 20 degrees Celsius, localized cooling below 0 degrees Celsius was observed. Simultaneously, markings and footprints left by the ranger vanished as if vaporized within minutes, leaving no physical traces. The authorities promptly dispatched an investigation team, but the phenomenon's occurrence is irregular, making specific condition reproduction extremely difficult. The mechanism of this phenomenon or its external source remains unknown.

Details

On May 14, 2015, deep within the Mato Grosso jungle, in an undeveloped area known as the "Green Corridor," forest ranger José da Silva noticed an anomaly during his routine patrol. As he passed a specific point, an instantaneous blast of sub-zero cold, distinctly different from the surrounding hot and humid air, enveloped him. According to his report, this cold air was confined to an area approximately 5 meters in radius, with dew on the ground freezing at its center. Da Silva left his footprints and a simple identifying chalk mark on the ground before briefly leaving the spot.

Approximately 15 minutes later, upon returning to the same location, Da Silva found that his footprints and chalk mark, which had certainly been there, had completely vanished. There were no signs of rain or wind; it was as if the ground itself had temporarily de-materialized, leaving no physical traces. Ancient indigenous legends in this region speak of "the forest swallowing things" at specific locations, and historical reports exist of explorers and loggers losing tools or entire campsites that inexplicably disappeared. However, this marked the first observation of such a phenomenon as a concrete physical event.

Following Da Silva's report, authorities dispatched a field investigation team on May 20, 2015. The team deployed state-of-the-art equipment including infrared cameras, thermocouples, and ground-penetrating radar to gather detailed data from the site. No anomalies were observed on the first day of the investigation. However, at 3:17 PM on May 22, an installed automatic monitoring device suddenly detected a rapid temperature drop. Simultaneously, a metal measuring instrument placed on the ground by the team was found to be partially stretched thin, as if melted by extreme heat, with approximately 10% of its mass missing. The phenomenon subsided within about 30 seconds, but the damage pattern on the instrument does not conform to known material degradation processes.

The investigation team further explored the vicinity and discovered an unnaturally depressed area approximately 50 meters away, where the surrounding soil in the center of the depression was finely disintegrated into sand-like particles. This depression reached a maximum depth of 30 centimeters. Soil samples revealed trace amounts of an unknown elemental composite and high-density micro-cracks not present in normal soil. These cracks suggest that some powerful physical stress was momentarily applied, but its source and mechanism remain unidentified. Furthermore, no abnormalities in electromagnetic waves, sound waves, or seismic waves were recorded during the phenomenon's occurrence.

Analysis of the damaged measuring instrument recovered by the investigation team revealed numerous nanoscale holes on the metal surface. This suggests the possibility of localized material phase transition or instantaneous disappearance of molecular bonds, a phenomenon currently unexplainable by physics. Even more intriguing is the detection of extremely faint but regular ultra-low-frequency vibrations originating deep beneath the ground at the location where the phenomenon occurred. These vibrations exhibit a pattern distinct from normal geological activity and have been recorded intermittently every few days.

The authorities have provisionally designated this area of Mato Grosso as the "Disappearance Point" and have established a long-term observation system. The recurrence of the phenomenon is irregular, making prediction or reproduction under specific conditions impossible. The whereabouts of the vanished material, the anomalous temperature drop, and the correlation with the ultra-low-frequency vibrations remain without any clear conclusions. This case continues to be unsolved, representing an unknown phenomenon unexplainable by known physical laws.

Witness Testimony

Witness A (José da Silva, Forest Ranger)Suddenly, the air felt like it froze. My sweat dried up, and even the bird sounds stopped. The chalk I put on the ground and my footprints vanished in minutes. It was like something just absorbed them.
Investigator B (Anonymous)The thermocouple read minus five degrees Celsius. In the jungle, imagine that. Right after, a metal pin warped as if melted. That's no known phenomenon.

Kyu's Analysis

Physical traces vanished, localized temperature shifted. Subterranean vibrations likely a trigger. Unexplainable. Continue recording.
